Charleston is so rich in history and beautiful architecture. The French influence is evident in many buildings yet the preferred style of home decor is Federal. If you are a Federal lover Charleston is definitely the place to shop for antiquities.

These photos are a compilation of anything and everything that I found beautiful.

Here is a beautiful combination of brick, stone, iron, wood in the entry of this home.
I can only imagine the beauty waiting inside this home!

Another beautiful  display of foliage against stone and a bronze statue.

Loving the harlequin pattern here!
That door is a beauty as well.

Beautiful Gothic arches and the fabulous quatrefoil design so many love.
This church looks like a place where a scene from a vampire movie could take place.
lol.

Well this is what I'm sharing today.  Hoping to get some sunshine soon so I can get a few pics of projects that have been going on around here.

Blessings to you all!

For Love of Brick...

Photo taken from one of the historic homes we toured in Charleston

Happy Saturday my bloggy friends.

I did a disappearing act again, with good reason. After the New Year it was decided an early spring cleaning had been long over due.   I have great disdain for clutter, piles, anything that looks unkempt and messy.  I can not and will not watch Hoarders because the mess disturbs my inner zen in the most ferocious of ways.  A little OCD perhaps??   lol  My house feels calmer.  I feel less overwhelmed. Yay!!!

I have a few painted projects underway, but in the meantime, (now that I've figured out how to bypass all the weirdness going on within my blog, link paster won't work, fonts in compose look like hieroglyphics Weird!) I wanted to share a few photos that I took on a trip to beautiful historic Charleston, South Carolina.  I have quite a few actually so I figured I would break them up into groups.  This one is for the Love of Brick.  It was quite lovely walking through the streets of Charlestons Historic District.  You will see here in the photos.

Enjoy my friends.

This little Courtyard is attached to a fabulous home for sell for just a mere million bucks
*** sigh...

This close up reveals all the texture of the gravel rock, shrubbery against the classic brick lay pattern.
Not to mention the topiaries and urns.
Beautiful!

Love the curves of the corbels and the wrought iron for this Juliet balcony.
This one snuck in again. It must be love.

A close up the age, patina of the brick in the first photo.
Stunning!

This building, quite possibly, could be one of my most favorite.
The green of the doors against the earthy tones of the pillars and brick textures is  quite pleasing to the eyes.

This is another favorite.

A beautiful courtyard!  Can you imagine having morning coffee here, listening to the sounds of the water dripping from the large fountain and smelling pleasant blooms growing from the large concrete planters?
I certainly can.

Hope you enjoyed a small piece of Historic Charleston, South Carolina.

Tester post!

I am having difficulty with blog posts.  Letters are not coming out correctly.  This is a test to SEE if it's working correctly on a post.

Cute Vintage Tin Project

This weekend was a whirlwind of last minute decorating, baking and cleaning. Basically I just needed the house tidy so I can actually sit down and enjoy the warm festive environment I've created.  If it's a mess it makes me think about the mess.  I didn't quite get everything accomplished but that's okay.  I will get to it tomorrow.

Here's a little project I came up with thanks to In the Fun Lane. I was a copycat of her project which is pictured on the Christmas tin on the right hand side. The cute little spoon hardware is from Anthropology. Everything besides the hardware I had on hand so it was a really inexpensive project aside from the $3 hardware.
The smaller tin was covered in sheet music and layered with a vintage graphic; I tweaked the coloring on it.

Supplies:
Scrapbook paper
Mod Podge
Ribbon
Vintage pictures
Hardware(optional)
Scissors
Pencil
Spray Paint

Spray paint outside of  tin; don't want the images showing through the craft paper!
Cut sheets of paper to size around the can, glue cut pieces onto tin, let dry;
When dry add another coat of Mod Podge to seal paper
You can add as many coats as you would like.
I did two coats.
Lay lid of tin on craft paper; trace a circle around the circumference of the lid; Cut; Glue to tin
Add hardware, ribbons or whatever else you might like

Pretty easy project and a great way to give Holiday treats to friends and family!

Before pictures???? There are none! But once you've seen one ugly Christmas tin, you have seen them all.  Right?? ;)

Here are a couple sneak peeks at projects that I incorporated into Christmas decor after changing the eye sore finishes on each of them.

.... I also added color and beaded garland to the main tree.  It's been pretty bleak around here with the lack of sunlight so I was craving some color.  It so happened that I had organza fabric and I love aqua blues.  All I did was cut a couple inch wide strips the entire length of the fabric.
I love how the blue looks against the white and silver.

To be honest, I had planned on using this color next year.
I'm really happy I didn't put it off.
This aqua blue is really a fun vibrant color around the house.

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend.... Merry Christmas... Ho, Ho, Ho!!!!
